RopeUp (“the app”) is developed by Vadim Semenko, trading as ZeroSix Studio (“we”, “us”). This policy explains what the app does with your information. Short version: the camera never records anything, your workouts and your weight stay on your iPhone, and the only thing that can leave it is the leaderboard row you choose to have.
The camera
Counting works by looking at single frames from the front camera and finding the position of your joints, using Apple’s on-device Vision framework. Each frame is analysed and immediately discarded. Nothing is recorded, nothing is written to storage, and nothing is uploaded — the app has no ability to send an image anywhere. The live preview you see on screen exists only while the session is running.
Face data
RopeUp does not collect, store, transmit or share face data, and it does not identify or authenticate anyone by their face. The app does not use Face ID, the TrueDepth camera, ARKit face tracking, face detection, face recognition, face meshes, or any face template, faceprint or other facial biometric identifier. It contains no such feature and links no third-party library that provides one.
Counting uses Apple’s on-device Vision body-pose API (VNDetectHumanBodyPoseRequest), which returns the positions of body joints. Five of those positions sit on the head — nose, left and right eye, left and right ear. They are nothing more than a pair of x/y coordinates in the frame plus a confidence value: they describe where a head is, not what a face looks like. They contain no facial geometry, no distances between features, no descriptor or template, and they cannot be used to recognise, re-identify, verify or distinguish one person from another. The jump count itself is derived from the hips, shoulders and knees; the head points are used only to draw the on-screen skeleton and to judge whether a person is in frame at all.
Use: counting jumps and drawing the live skeleton, on your device, during a session only. Retention:each frame and the coordinates derived from it live in memory for the few milliseconds it takes to process that frame, are overwritten by the next frame and are never written to storage — there is no database, file, cache or log of them, and nothing survives the end of a session or the closing of the app. Storage: in device memory only; nothing is stored on our servers, because the app has no server of its own and no code path that uploads an image or a coordinate anywhere. Sharing:none — no third party, including Firebase, Google or RevenueCat, receives camera frames, body-joint coordinates or anything derived from them. Deletion: automatic and immediate, frame by frame; nothing is left to delete.
Two optional features do save images in which your face may be visible, if you choose to use them: workout video recording and progress photos. They are saved only inside the app’s private storage on your iPhone, are never uploaded to us or to anyone else, and are never analysed for facial features. You can delete any of them at any time inside the app, and deleting the app removes them all. They are ordinary pictures you asked the app to keep — no face data is extracted from them.
What stays on your device
Everything the app creates about you is stored locally on your iPhone, in the app’s own storage:
- your workouts — jumps, duration, pace, calories, the counting source used;
- your history, statistics, personal records, levels, awards and streaks;
- your weight log, height, sex and age, and anything derived from them — BMI, the goal and its forecast;
- your programs and where you are in them;
- your settings: units, language, reminders, audio cues, whether the skeleton overlay is shown.
Your weight, height, sex and age are health data and are treated as such: they never leave the deviceand are never written to our servers, not even as part of the leaderboard. If your iPhone is included in an iCloud or local backup, the app’s data is part of that backup, held in your own Apple account under Apple’s terms.
What leaves your device
Leaderboard and friends
These are optional. If you use them, the app signs you in to Google Firebase — anonymously by default, or with Sign in with Appleif you choose it — and stores a small public profile in Firestore: a display name you pick, an avatar seed, your referral code, your points, your total jumps, your best session, your streak, your level, your top awards, and your weekly jump totals. That is the whole of it. No weight, no age, no health data, no location, no contacts, no individual workouts.
You can delete your account from inside the app (Settings → Account → Delete account). That removes the profile, the weekly totals, your row on the leaderboard and your referral code. Google’s policy: firebase.google.com/support/privacy.
Analytics and crash reports
We use Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics(Google) to see which features are used and to find crashes. They collect app events, device model, OS version, coarse region and an app-instance identifier. They do not receive your camera frames, your workouts, your weight or anything else from the lists above. Google’s policy: policies.google.com/privacy.
Purchases
Subscriptions are processed by Apple. We use RevenueCatto validate receipts and keep track of whether a subscription is active. RevenueCat receives an anonymous app user ID generated on your device and your purchase status — not your name, e-mail or payment details, which Apple never shares with us. RevenueCat’s policy: revenuecat.com/privacy.
Permissions
- Camera— to count your jumps. Required for the camera source and nothing else; see above for what happens to the frames.
- Motion & Fitness— only if you count with AirPods or an Apple Watch, which read head or wrist movement instead of the camera. Optional.
- Apple Health — only if you turn it on. RopeUp writes finished sessions as workouts. It does not read your health data; iOS still asks for read permission because of how HealthKit is packaged, and the app makes no read requests.
- Photo library (add only)— asked only at the moment you choose to save something from the app to your library. RopeUp cannot see or read your photos.
- Notifications— only if you set reminders. Scheduled locally on the device; we send no push messages.
RopeUp never asks for your location, your contacts or your microphone.
Accounts
You do not need an account to count, save, or review anything — the whole app works signed out. An account exists only for the leaderboard and friends. Sign in with Apple is supported, and if you use Apple’s Hide My Email we never see your address.
Children
The app is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Your choices
- Delete your account and everything public: Settings → Account → Delete account, inside the app.
- Delete everything local: deleting the app removes all data stored on your device.
- Opt out of tracking: iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking applies to RopeUp like any other app.
- Ask us: email [email protected] for information or deletion; we respond within 5 business days.
Health disclaimer

Changes
We’ll update this page and the date above when things change. Material changes will also be noted in the app’s release notes.
